Task
This is a group assignment. We are required to choose an indoor space that is at least 10m x 6m. Then, we have to identify the types of lighting that are being used in that chosen space. We will have to create a reflected ceiling plan and cross-section drawings of its general lighting. Lumen method calculations have to be shown clearly as well. Besides, we have to provide two sketches of different types of proposed lighting in that space. All of the information has to be presented in 2 A2 size boards.
Progress
Choose a space
We started off by choosing an indoor space which is a hospital's entrance. This hospital is called "Alalamein general hospital" and it was designed by Yara Eid. The entrance is around 8.5m x 11m which has met the requirement.
Reflection
Throughout this assignment, I have learned to do Lumen Method calculations to get the light level in a room. After getting the number of lights and their arrangement through calculations, it is then translated into a reflected ceiling plan. I have also learned about the type of general lighting and artificial lighting that can be used in a hospital entrance. The general lighting that we identified is circular ligature-resistant recessed LED downlights. The other two proposed lightings are task lightings that are installed near the registration counter and accent lights in the garden area in the middle of the space. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the outcome of this assignment as every member put in the effort and tried our best to achieve the greatest outcome. I have learned a lot of knowledge about the instalment of artificial lighting in this assignment as my tutor and lecturer provided a lot of guidance to let us have a better learning experience.
